 Len joined the fire service in 2012 after serving five years honorably in the United States Army. In his time in the military, Len completed Airborne School and received his Expert Infantryman Badge, achieved the rank of Sergeant, was a squad leader and Fire Direction Control Chief on an 81mm mortar section, and earned several awards and high honors for meritorious service in The Presidential Salute Battery in Washington, D.C. Upon returning to his hometown in Whitehall, PA, he sought out the local volunteer Search and Rescue team to put his acquired skills to use in the civilian sector. During that time, his interest was drawn to the firehouse in which the SAR team operated out of, and within three years Len quickly became one of the senior firefighters in Schnecksville Fire Company. Len came to Trexlertown Fire Company in August 2018 after purchasing a home with his wife, Kaitlyn. He was happily received and glad to be among several other veterans volunteering with the fire company. After a year of settling in and getting to know the crew, apparatus, and the fire district, Len was appointed to the position of Captain and Training Officer, which he embraced wholeheartedly. In 2020, with the support of the Fire Chief, Len's application to the Lehigh County Special Operations team (The LCSO is a highly specialized volunteer rescue team that responds to high risk and technical incidents in Lehigh and surrounding counties) was accepted, which has been a personal goal of his since he joined the fire service eight years prior. When he's not at the firehouse, Len enjoys spending time with Kaitlyn and his two daughters, Aaralyn and Everly. He enjoys camping, firearms, music, and discovering new and creative ways to challenge junior and senior members alike on training nights. He works as a licensed master electrician out of IBEW Local Union 375 (Allentown) on many of the commercial and industrial projects throughout the Lehigh Valley.
